Daniel Narratives & Local Prophetic Events

Local events in the lives of Daniel, Hananjah, Mishael and Azarjah,
re-named Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed Nego.  The settings are across the Babylonian and Persian empire territories:  The deportation of Jews from Jerusalem to Babylon, the golden image of Nebuchadnezzar and the “fiery furnace”, Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of the tree and the Watcher; Belshazzar’s feast and the writing on the wall, Daniel and the lion’s den.

Daniel Chapter 1

Daniel is taken to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar
along with Hananjah, Mishael and Azarjah.
They are put on a plant-based diet,
after discussion with the chief eunuch.
Daniel and his companions have their names changed to
Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed Nego.
After being interviewed by Nebuchadnezzar, they are taken
into royal service.

Daniel Chapter 3

Shadrach, Meshach and Abed Nego are reported to Nebuchadnezzar by the hierarchy and are given an ultimatum to bow down to Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image or face capital punishment by incineration.
Nebuchadnezzar gets to see the Son of God protecting the three in a the incinerating furnace and makes a proclamation regarding the execution of any that should speak disparagingly about Daniel’s God.

Daniel Chapter 4

Nebuchadnezzar has another dream and calls on Daniel to interpret. 
Nebuchadnezzar loses control of Babylon for 7 years, and then comes 
back for a brief time in which he publishes a testimonial regarding his dream and how he became a believer in the True God.

Daniel Chapter 5

A description of the desecration of the Jerusalem temple vessels by Belshazzar during a major orgy and the writing on the wall outlining the fall of Babylon.
The Babylonian empire comes to an end and Darius the Mede takes over the royal administration of the Medo-Persian kingdom.

Daniel Chapter 6

Darius the Mede is deceived by the hierarchy into passing the death sentence on Daniel. Daniel is thrown into the lion’s den but comes out unharmed the following day. The conspirators are conscripted to the lion’s den, proving the lions were not tame.
