Daniel 9 Hebrew & English

DANIEL 9 Interlinear Overview

Daniel looks to Jeremiah’s 70-year prophecy of the ruination of Jerusalem. Contained is this chapter is the prophetic announcement which through historical dating gives the time of the first Advent of “Messiah the Prince”.

Daniel 9:1

In the first year of Darius son of Ahasuerus (from Mede Descent),
who was made king over the realm of Chaldea:

Daniel 9:2

In his first complete-calendar-reigning-year,
I, Daniel, would discern, through the scriptures,
the number of the years,
that which was the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet,
for fulfilment regarding the utter ruination of Jerusalem- seventy years.

Daniel 9:3

Therefore I set my face toward the Lord God
to seek intercession and earnest petitions
with fasting, and both sackcloth and ashes.

Daniel 9:4

And I prayed for myself to the LORD my God, and confessed;
Then I uttered: “Ah Lord, the Great God and the Awesome One
Who reserves the Covenant, and Grace,
for those who love Him, and for those observing His precepts.

Daniel 9:5

We have missed the goal and done wrong,
we have acted wickedly and rebelled:
Namely turning away from Your Commandments and Your Judgments.

Numbers 14:18

The LORD…. slow to anger, and of great kindness,
bearing iniquity and rebellion guilt,
but by no means declaring exempt,
visiting the wickedness consequences
of the fathers onto the children,
onto the grand children and great grandchildren.

Psalm 126:1

A song of upward steps…
When the LORD reversed
the captivity of Zion,
we were like those who dream…

Daniel 9:6

We did not listen to your servants the prophets,
who spoke in Your name
to our kings, leaders and our fathers,
and also to all the people of the Earth.

Daniel 9:7

To You, O Lord, belongs righteousness,
and to us, shamefulness of face, the like of this day:
to the men of Judah, and to the population of Jerusalem,
and to all Israel, those near and far,
in all the lands where You banished them –
on account of their treachery, which they perpetrated against You.

Daniel 9:8

O LORD, to us, shamefulness of face,
to our kings, our leaders and our fathers:
we who have incurred the penalty of sinning
against You.

Daniel 9:9

To the Lord our God belong
the bowels of mercy
and the Abundant Forgiveness;
though we have rebelled against Him;

Daniel 9:10

Nor did we obey the voice of the LORD our God;
to walk by His directions, which he set before us,
by means of His servants the prophets.

Daniel 9:11

Yea all Israel passed-by Your Foundational-Directions,
then turning aside, in order not to obey Your voice;
therefore the oath and the curse broke forth upon us
– that which is written in
the Torah of Moses the servant of God –
because we incurred the penalty of sinning against Him.

Daniel 9:12

So He caused His words to stand,
which He had spoken over us,
and over our judges, those who judged us,
in regard to bringing upon ourselves great evil;
that which had not been done,
under the whole heaven
according as that which has been done with Jerusalem.

Daniel 9:13

According to that being written
in the Torah of Moses,
all this evil has come upon us;
and we have not pacified the face of the LORD our God,
in turning from our wickedness
and acting intelligently in Your Truth.

Daniel 9:14

Now the LORD is sleepless concerning the evil,
but He brought it upon us;
Because the LORD our God is righteous
concerning all His works which he does,
seeing we did not obey His voice.

Daniel 9:15

And now, O Lord our God,
who brought out Your people
from the land of Egypt with a mighty hand
and made for Yourself a Name, as at this day;
We have incurred guilt, we have acted wickedly:

Daniel 9:16

O Lord, according to all Your Righteousness,
may your anger and hot indignation turn
from Your city Jerusalem, Your Sacred Mountain;
because by our failures,
and the wrongdoings of our fathers
Jerusalem and Your people
are in a state of disgrace to all around us.

Daniel 9:17

And now hearken, O our God,
to the prayer of Your servant
and to his humble petitions,
and let Your face shine
upon Your desolate sanctuary,
for the Lord’s sake.

Daniel 9:18

O my God, incline Your ear, and hearken;
May You open Your eyes,
and consider our utter desolation,
and the city, that Your name was invoked over:
Certainly, not on the grounds of our own righteousness,
are we laying down our petitions before You,
but on the basis of Your great mercies.

Daniel 9:19

O Lord hearken, O Lord pardon,
Give attention and act, O Lord, delay not;
For Your own sake, O my God,
because Your name was invoked,
over Your city and over Your people.”

Daniel 9:20

And I was still speaking and praying for myself,
and confessing my sin-guilt,
and the sin-guilt of my people Israel;
And also laying down my humble petition
before the LORD my God
concerning the sacred mountain of my God;

Daniel 9:21

And so, I was yet speaking, in the prayer;
and the personage Gabriel,
whom I saw in the vision at the beginning,
being made swift in flight, having reached me
at evening grain-offering time…

Daniel 9:22

Now he understood,
and he spoke with me;
and he said “O Daniel,
I came out now,
in order to give you understanding insight:

Daniel 9:23

At the beginning of your humble petitions,
word went forth,
and I have come to make known
that you are precious treasure;
Then discern through the word
and understand by means of the vision:

Daniel 9:24

Seventy sevens, it has been divided off for the sake of your people,
and your sacred city,
in order to make the rebellion cease,
and for sealing up the guilt of sins,
and for covering over wickedness guilt
and so as to bring near PERPETUAL RIGHTNESS
and for certifying vision and PROPHET,
and for anointing MOST HOLY

Proverbs 28:13

One covering up their wickedness
will not experience prosperity;
One confessing and letting go
will experience compassion.

Daniel 9:25

May you both know and have insight:
from point of issue of a word of command to restore,
and to rebuild Jerusalem, until PRINCE MESSIAH:
seven sevens;
plus sixty two sevens:
It will return and be built up,
open place and also rock-cut-cistern-installation,
even in the oppression of the times.

Daniel 9:26

And after the sixty two sevens, MESSIAH will be cut off,
but not for Himself;
And both the city and the holy place,
the nation of the coming emporer will destroy,
and its end by overwhelmment;
Then up to an end of a war,
unpeopling having been decided.

Daniel 9:27

Now He will affirm a covenant, for many, one seven;
and mid that seven, he will make
sacrifice and grain-offering cease;
Now against an utterly-detested wing entity,
causing horror,
and even to annihilation (and also having been decided),
He will break forth – against desolator.”
