Daniel 2 Hebrew, Aramaic & English

DANIEL 2 Interlinear Overview

Nebuchadnezzar has a dream that terrifies him.
Because he is unable to recall the dream,
he musters all the wisdom of Babylon to have
the dream related and provide the interpretation.

Due to the impossibility of the task, no one can comply,
and all the wise elite are consequently sentenced to death.
Daniel and his companions pray to God for mercy and are granted
the necessary information concerning Nebuchadnezzar’s dream.
This dream is a prophecy in prophetic symbolism about the major
empires which will control civilization until
the final Advent of the Kingdom of God.

Daniel 2:1

Now in Nebuchadnezzar’s second complete-calendar-year-reign,
Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams
and his spirit struck repeatedly
so his sleep had become beyond him.

Daniel 2:2

Then the king commanded to call for
the sacred scribes and for the enchanters
and for the sorcerers and for the Chaldean Learned
in order to explain to the king his dreams;
and they came and stood before the king.

Daniel 2:3

Then the king said to them:
“I dreamt a dream, and my spirit is agitated
to know that dream.”

Daniel 2:4

Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic:
“ O King, live for ever!
Relate the dream to your servants
and we will declare the meaning!”

Daniel 2:5

The king responding, and telling the Chaldeans:
“The word from me is definite:
if you shall not let me know
the dream and it’s meaning
you shall be dismembered
and your houses rendered a dirt heap;

Daniel 2:6

However if ye shall make known the dream and it’s meaning,
gifts and a reward,
and great honour shall ye receive from before me!
But show me the dream and it’s meaning!”

Daniel 2:7

They replied a second time, saying:
“Let the king relate the dream to his servants,
then we will make known the meaning.”

Daniel 2:8

The king responding and saying
“Of certainty I am perceiving that ye are buying time
inasmuch as you see that the word from me is guaranteed:

Daniel 2:9

that if you should not cause me to know the dream,
your decree is one,
since you have colluded to relate
a false and corrupted thing before me,
until when the moment will change.
Therefore tell me the dream
and I will know that you can show me it’s interpretation!”

Daniel 2:10

The Chaldeans speak up before the king and are saying
“There is not a human on Earth who is able to show the king’s matter
as no king, captain or authority has asked for a thing like this
through any sacred scribe or enchanter or Chaldean

Daniel 2:11

Moreover the thing which the king is requesting is rare
and there isn’t another who can show it before the king, except gods
whose dwelling place is not with the human race.”

Daniel 2:12

On this account the king was indignant
and became exceedingly wroth
and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon

Daniel 2:13

And the decree went forth
and the wise men are being slain
and so they sought Daniel and his friends to be killed….

Daniel 2:14

Daniel then gave back counsel and sound judgment to Arioch
chief of the king’s executioners
who went forth to kill the wise men of Babylon

Daniel 2:15

responding and saying to Arioch, the one having the king’s authority:
“why is the decree so severe from before the king?”
Arioch then communicated the matter to Daniel

Daniel 2:16

Then Daniel went in and requested from the king
that he would give him time
and so to show the king the interpretation

Daniel 2:17

Afterwards Daniel went to his house
and to Hananya, Mishael and Azarya his friends
he made the matter known

Daniel 2:18

and to request mercies from before the God of Heaven
concerning this secret,
that they might not destroy Daniel and his friends
together with Babylon’s remnant of wise men.

Daniel 2:19

Afterwards by means of the Vision of the Night
the secret was revealed to Daniel
Daniel  thereupon praised the God of Heaven

Daniel 2:20

Daniel responding and saying
“let His Name, He Who is God,
be blessed from Antiquity even to Eternity
Seeing that Wisdom and Might
are such that belong to Him Himself

Daniel 2:21

And it is He Who changes the seasons and the years,
Who removes kings and Who sets up kings,
giving the wisdom to sages,
and the knowledge to those knowing discernment

Daniel 2:22

He is the Revelator of the deep mysteries and the hidden things
knowing what is in the darkness
But the Light encamps with Him

Daniel 2:23

You, O God of my fathers, I am thanking and praising
that you gave me wisdom and might
and at this time you let me know that which we asked from you,
you showed us that matter of the king!”

Daniel 2:24

Wholly on this account Daniel went unto Arioch,
whom the king had designated to destroy Babylon’s wise men,
he went and said thus to him:  “May you not destroy Babylon’s wise men;
Bring me in before the king
then I can declare to the king the interpretation.”

Daniel 2:25

Thereupon Arioch quickly brought in Daniel before the king
and said to him: “ I found a man from among the sons of Judah’s exile,
who can make known the interpretation to the king.”

Daniel 2:26

the king responding and saying to Daniel,
whose name was Belteshazzar,
“Are you able to make known to me the dream which I saw
and it’s interpretation?”

Daniel 2:27

Daniel, making reply before the king and saying
“There are not wise men, enchanters, sacred scribes, determiners,
who are able to show the king the secret that the king is requesting

Daniel 2:28

Nevertheless there is God in Heaven , the Revelator of Secrets,
and He has made known to king Nebuchadnezzar
what will happen in the latter days.
Your dream and visions of your head upon your bed, this is it:

Daniel 2:29

You, O King, your thoughts upon your bed:-
Were ascended what will come to pass hereafter
and the Revealer of Secrets causes you to know what is to be!

Daniel 2:30

But as for me, this secret being revealed to me is not
on account of wisdom that is in me more than any living
but to the intent that they should make known
the interpretation to the king
and you might know the thoughts of your heart

Daniel2:31

You, O king, you were looking
And behold a great image!
That grand image, standing in front of you,
it’s  splendour was extraordinary
and it’s appearance frightening

Daniel 2:32

That image, it’s head was of pure gold;
It’s chest area and it’s arms of silver;
It’s abdominal area and it’s thighs of bronze;

Daniel 2:33

It’s legs of iron;
It’s feet, part of them iron and part of them potshard

Daniel 2:34

You were looking until that a stone was cut,
not by human hands,
and struck the image against it’s feet
of iron and potshard, and it broke them in pieces

Daniel 2:35

At the same time the iron, the potshard, the silver and the gold fell into pieces together
and became as chaff from a summer threshing floor
and the wind carried them away
and there wasn’t any place found for them
then the stone that struck the image became
a great mountain and it filled the whole Earth

Daniel 2:36

This is the dream and we will declare its
interpretation before the king

Daniel 2:37

You O king are king of kings
For the God of Heaven gave you the kingdom,
power and might and honour

Daniel 2:38

And wherever they are dwelling, the children of men,
the beasts of the field,  and the birds of the skies
He gave then into your hand and made you ruler over them all:
You are that head of gold!ּ

Daniel 2:39

And in your track will arise another kingdom inferior to yours
then another kingdom, a third, that of the bronze,
which shall rule in all the earth

Daniel 2:40

Then a fourth kingdom, it shall be strong like the iron,
just as iron breaking in pieces and pounding everything.
And so like iron that crushes,
all of these it will break in pieces and crush.

Daniel 2:41

And whereas you observed the feet and toes,
part of them potshard and part iron;
it shall be a divided kingdom,
but some of the hardness of the iron shall be within it
and so corresponding to that which you saw –
iron being mixed with shard clay material

Daniel 2:42

Moreover the toes of the feet –
part of them iron and part of them potshard…
Part of the end of the kingdom will be mighty
and part of it will be brittle

Daniel 2:43

That which you saw, the iron mixed with shard clay material…
They shall be mixing themselves by human gene,
But will not be holding together,
Behold like iron not blending with potshard!

Daniel 2:44

Now in their (those king’s) days,
the God of Heaven shall set up a Kingdom
that for Eternity shall not be destroyed
And the Kingdom shall not be left to another people
It shall shatter and put an end to all these kingdoms
and it shall endure for Eternity

Daniel 2:45

Inasmuch as you saw that a stone was cut from the mountain
without human instrumentality
and broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay,
the silver, and also the gold:
The Great God has made known to the king what shall be hereafter
and so the dream is certain and it’s interpretation trustworthy.”

Daniel 2:46

Nebuchanezzar the king then fell upon his face
and did Daniel homage
moreover a cereal offering and sweet odours
he commanded to be offered for him;

Daniel 2:47

the king speaking to Daniel and saying,
“of a truth, the God of you all, He is a God of gods
and a Lord of kings and a Revealer of Mysteries,
seeing that you were able to reveal this secret”

DANIEL 2:48

The king then made Daniel great,
and gave him many great gifts
and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon
and chief governor over all Babylon’s wise men

DANIEL 2:49

Then Daniel asked of the king…
and so he appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abed Nego
over the administration of the Province of Babylon
and Daniel into the king’s court.
