DANIEL 12
THE GREAT ESCAPE
This final prophetic chapter mentions a time of great distress after the arrival of Antichrist, then mentions resurrections from the dead. It also gives specific time prophecies.
Daniel 12:1
וּבָעֵ֣ת הַהִיא֩ יַעֲמֹ֨ד מִֽיכָאֵ֜ל הַשַּׂ֣ר הַגָּדֹ֗ול הָעֹמֵד֮ עַל־בְּנֵ֣י עַמֶּךָ֒
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the Great Magistrate,
the One who stands on behalf of the children of your people;
וְהָיְתָה֙ עֵ֣ת צָרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־נִהְיְתָה֙ מִֽהְיֹ֣ות גֹּ֔וי עַ֖ד הָעֵ֣ת הַהִ֑יא
and there will be a time of distress,
which did not occur, since a nation came into being, until that time;
וּבָעֵ֤ת הַהִיא֙ יִמָּלֵ֣ט עַמְּךָ֔ כָּל־הַנִּמְצָ֖א כָּת֥וּב בַּסֵּֽפֶר׃
Then at that time, your people shall escape,
every one who is found written in the Book.
Daniel 12:2
וְרַבִּ֕ים מִיְּשֵׁנֵ֥י אַדְמַת־עָפָ֖ר יָקִ֑יצוּ
And many, from sleeping- of the Land of Dust,
they shall awaken:
אֵ֚לֶּה לְחַיֵּ֣י עֹולָ֔ם
These to lives of continuous existence;
וְאֵ֥לֶּה לַחֲרָפֹ֖ות לְדִרְאֹ֥ון עֹולָֽם׃ ס
But those to utter contempt, to eternal abhorrence.
Daniel 12:3
וְהַ֨מַּשְׂכִּלִ֔ים יַזְהִ֖רוּ כְּזֹ֣הַר הָרָקִ֑יעַ
Now the ones who have insight will broadcast light,
like as the shining of the firmament;
וּמַצְדִּיקֵי֙ הָֽרַבִּ֔ים
And so righteously influencing many,
כַּכֹּוכָבִ֖ים לְעֹולָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃ פ
like as the stars, for futurity and perpetuity.
Daniel 12:4
וְאַתָּ֣ה דָֽנִיֵּ֗אל סְתֹ֧ם הַדְּבָרִ֛ים וַחֲתֹ֥ם הַסֵּ֖פֶר עַד־עֵ֣ת קֵ֑ץ
But you Daniel, encrypt the words,
and seal the book, until end time;
יְשֹׁטְט֥וּ רַבִּ֖ים וְתִרְבֶּ֥ה הַדָּֽעַת׃
many will run quickly to and fro,
and Knowledge shall become great.
Daniel 12:5
וְרָאִ֨יתִי֙ אֲנִ֣י דָנִיֵּ֔אל וְהִנֵּ֛ה שְׁנַ֥יִם אֲחֵרִ֖ים עֹמְדִ֑ים
And I Daniel, I looked, and lo – two others standing!
אֶחָ֥ד הֵ֨נָּה֙ לִשְׂפַ֣ת הַיְאֹ֔ר וְאֶחָ֥ד הֵ֖נָּה לִשְׂפַ֥ת הַיְאֹֽר׃
One on this side of the bank of the Nile,
and the other on that side of the bank of the Nile.
Daniel 12:6
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לָאִישׁ֙ לְב֣וּשׁ הַבַּדִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר מִמַּ֖עַל לְמֵימֵ֣י הַיְאֹ֑ר
Then one said to the personage clothed in white linen,
who was above the waters of the Nile:
עַד־מָתַ֖י קֵ֥ץ הַפְּלָאֹֽות׃
“Until when – the end of these unusual things?”
Daniel 12:7
וָאֶשְׁמַ֞ע אֶת־הָאִ֣ישׁ לְב֣וּשׁ הַבַּדִּ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר מִמַּעַל֮ לְמֵימֵ֣י הַיְאֹר֒
And I heard that Personage clothed in white linen,
Who was above the waters of the Nile;
וַיָּ֨רֶם יְמִינֹ֤ו וּשְׂמֹאלֹו֙ אֶל־הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיִּשָּׁבַ֖ע בְּחֵ֣י הָעֹולָ֑ם
And he raised His right and His left hand towards Heaven;
and he swore by the Living One of Eternity:
כִּי֩ לְמֹועֵ֨ד מֹֽועֲדִ֜ים וָחֵ֗צִי
“Certainly for a set time, times and a half;
וּכְכַלֹּ֛ות נַפֵּ֥ץ יַד־עַם־קֹ֖דֶשׁ תִּכְלֶ֥ינָה כָל־אֵֽלֶּה׃
And while bringing to an end,
shattering a people of holiness’s power,
all these things shall come to an end”.
Daniel 12:8
וַאֲנִ֥י שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי וְלֹ֣א אָבִ֑ין
Now I heard, but did not understand;
וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה אֲדֹנִ֕י מָ֥ה אַחֲרִ֖ית אֵֽלֶּה׃ פ
and I said, “O my Lord, what outcome, these things?”
Daniel 12:9
וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לֵ֣ךְ דָּנִיֵּ֑אל
Then He said, “Move on Daniel –
כִּֽי־סְתֻמִ֧ים וַחֲתֻמִ֛ים הַדְּבָרִ֖ים עַד־עֵ֥ת קֵֽץ׃
For the words are encrypted and sealed until end time.”
Daniel 12:10
יִ֠תְבָּֽרֲרוּ וְיִֽתְלַבְּנ֤וּ וְיִצָּֽרְפוּ֙ רַבִּ֔ים
“Many shall separate themselves,
and will be whitened and refined;
וְהִרְשִׁ֣יעוּ רְשָׁעִ֔ים וְלֹ֥א יָבִ֖ינוּ כָּל־רְשָׁעִ֑ים
Now wicked ones shall perpetrate evil,
and they shall not understand, (all of the wicked):
וְהַמַּשְׂכִּלִ֖ים יָבִֽינוּ׃
But ones who have insight will understand”.
וּמֵעֵת֙ הוּסַ֣ר הַתָּמִ֔יד וְלָתֵ֖ת שִׁקּ֣וּץ שֹׁמֵ֑ם
“Now from a time the continuity is laid aside,
and the imposition of a desolating detested thing:
יָמִ֕ים אֶ֖לֶף מָאתַ֥יִם וְתִשְׁעִֽים׃
Days…A thousand, two hundred and ninety;
Daniel 12:12
אַשְׁרֵ֥י הַֽמְחַכֶּ֖ה וְיַגִּ֑יעַ
O the happiness of one who waits and shall arrive!
לְיָמִ֕ים אֶ֕לֶף שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵאֹ֖ות שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃
At days- one thousand, three hundred, thirty five!
Daniel 12:13
וְאַתָּ֖ה לֵ֣ךְ לַקֵּ֑ץ
Now you, move on with reference to the end;
וְתָנ֛וּחַ וְתַעֲמֹ֥ד לְגֹרָלְךָ֖ לְקֵ֥ץ הַיָּמִֽין׃
And you shall rest, then you shall arise at your lot,
at the end of these days!”
