DANIEL 11
THE RISE OF “HIM”
This prophetic chapter covers specific events which can be dated through the study of secular history. It begins with Persia, then continues to Alexander the Great and the Greek succession. It goes on to the Roman and Holy Roman empires and alludes to battles against the Islamic empire. It concludes with battles in the last 200 years or so, then a final great warfare and the advent of Antichrist (no doubt to solve the problems of the world).
Something to bear in mind when reading this chapter is
the “wheel within wheel” concept symbolized in Ezekiel.
Also, all other Biblical prophecy can help when interpreting Daniel
Ezekiel 10:10
וּמַ֨רְאֵיהֶ֔ם דְּמ֥וּת אֶחָ֖ד לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֑ם
And their awesome appearance: one similtude to the four of them;
כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר יִהְיֶ֥ה הָאֹופַ֖ן בְּתֹ֥וךְ הָאֹופָֽן׃
As though it were wheel within wheel
Daniel 11:1
וַאֲנִי֙ בִּשְׁנַ֣ת אַחַ֔ת לְדָרְיָ֖וֶשׁ הַמָּדִ֑י
Now myself, in regnal year 1 of Darius the Mede–
עָמְדִ֛י לְמַחֲזִ֥יק וּלְמָעֹ֖וז לֹֽו׃
My position: for supporting and for his protection.
וְעַתָּ֕ה אֱמֶ֖ת אַגִּ֣יד לָ֑ךְ
And now I shall declare affirmed fact to you:
הִנֵּה־עֹוד֩ שְׁלֹשָׁ֨ה מְלָכִ֜ים עֹמְדִ֣ים לְפָרַ֗ס וְהָֽרְבִיעִי֙
behold, yet three kings taking stand for Persia,
then the fourth,
יַעֲשִׁ֤יר עֹֽשֶׁר־גָּדֹול֙ מִכֹּ֔ל וּכְחֶזְקָתֹ֣ו בְעָשְׁרֹ֔ו
he will gain great riches, more than all;
and on a par with his strength through his riches,
יָעִ֣יר הַכֹּ֔ל אֵ֖ת מַלְכ֥וּת יָוָֽן׃
he will awaken the whole kingdom of Greece.
וְעָמַ֖ד מֶ֣לֶךְ גִּבֹּ֑ור
And a mighty king shall stand up;
וּמָשַׁל֙ מִמְשָׁ֣ל רַ֔ב וְעָשָׂ֖ה כִּרְצֹונֹֽו׃
and he will rule a vast dominion,
and shall do according to his will.
וּכְעָמְדֹו֙ תִּשָּׁבֵ֣ר מַלְכוּתֹ֔ו וְתֵחָ֕ץ לְאַרְבַּ֖ע רוּחֹ֣ות הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם
And when taking his stand,
his kingdom shall be broken, then divided,
to the four winds of the heavens;
וְלֹ֣א לְאַחֲרִיתֹ֗ו וְלֹ֤א כְמָשְׁלֹו֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָשָׁ֔ל
but not for his posterity,
and not the like of his empire which he ruled;
כִּ֤י תִנָּתֵשׁ֙ מַלְכוּתֹ֔ו וְלַאֲחֵרִ֖ים מִלְּבַד־אֵֽלֶּה׃
Because his kingdom will be uprooted,
even for others, besides these.
וְיֶחֱזַ֥ק מֶֽלֶךְ־הַנֶּ֖גֶב
And the king of the south will be strong,
וּמִן־שָׂרָ֑יו
but one of his generals;
וְיֶחֱזַ֤ק עָלָיו֙ וּמָשָׁ֔ל
Even he shall become strong above him,
and he shall rule –
מִמְשָׁ֥ל רַ֖ב מֶמְשַׁלְתֹּֽו׃
an abundant realm,
his own sovereignty.
Daniel 11:6
וּלְקֵ֤ץ שָׁנִים֙ יִתְחַבָּ֔רוּ וּבַ֣ת מֶֽלֶךְ־הַנֶּ֗גֶב
And after years they will league together,
and the daughter of the king of the south,
תָּבֹוא֙ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפֹ֔ון לַעֲשֹׂ֖ות מֵישָׁרִ֑ים
she will come to the king of the north
in order to to make level country;
וְלֹֽא־תַעְצֹ֞ר כֹּ֣וחַ הַזְּרֹ֗ועַ וְלֹ֤א יַעֲמֹד֙ וּזְרֹעֹ֔ו
but she shall be given over,
וְתִנָּתֵ֨ן הִ֤יא וּמְבִיאֶ֨יהָ֙ וְהַיֹּ֣לְדָ֔הּ וּמַחֲזִקָ֖הּ בָּעִתִּֽים׃
her and who brought her in and who begat her,
and who strengthened her through those times.
Daniel 11:7
וְעָמַ֛ד מִנֵּ֥צֶר שָׁרָשֶׁ֖יהָ כַּנֹּ֑ו
And he will come on the scene,
his place from a branch of her roots,
וְיָבֹ֣א אֶל־הַחַ֗יִל וְיָבֹא֙ בְּמָעֹוז֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפֹ֔ון
and he will come against the force,
and he will go into the stronghold of the king of the north;
וְעָשָׂ֥ה בָהֶ֖ם וְהֶחֱזִֽיק׃
and he will deal with them, and he will strengthen;
Daniel 11:8
וְגַ֣ם אֱֽלֹהֵיהֶ֡ם עִם־נְסִֽכֵיהֶם֩ עִם־כְּלֵ֨י חֶמְדָּתָ֜ם
And also their gods, with their molten images,
along with their precious vessels,
כֶּ֧סֶף וְזָהָ֛ב בַּשְּׁבִ֖י יָבִ֣א מִצְרָ֑יִם
silver and gold – Egypt will he bring into captivity;
וְהוּא֙ שָׁנִ֣ים יַעֲמֹ֔ד מִמֶּ֖לֶךְ הַצָּפֹֽון׃
And he will continue years more than the king of the north.
Daniel 11:9
וּבָ֗א בְּמַלְכוּת֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֔גֶב
Then he will come against the king of the south,
וְשָׁ֖ב אֶל־אַדְמָתֹֽו׃
but will return to his own land.
Daniel 11:10
וּבְנֹו (וּבָנָ֣יו ק) יִתְגָּר֗וּ וְאָסְפוּ֙ הֲמֹון֙ חֲיָלִ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים
But his son they shall vehemently incite for themselves,
and they shall gather a multitude, a vast army,
וּבָ֥א בֹ֖וא וְשָׁטַ֣ף וְעָבָ֑ר
and he shall come decidedly,
and shall overwhelm and pass through;
וְיָשֹׁ֥ב וְיִתְגָּרוּ (וְיִתְגָּרֶ֖ה ק) עַד־מָעֻזָּה (מָעֻזֹּֽו׃ ק)
Then he will return
and they shall vehemently incite for themselves,
even to her fortress.
וְיִתְמַרְמַר֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֔גֶב וְיָצָ֕א
And he shall embitter himself, the king of the south,
and he shall come out, and engage battle with him,
וְנִלְחַ֥ם עִמֹּ֖ו עִם־מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפֹ֑ון
with the king of the north,
וְהֶעֱמִיד֙ הָמֹ֣ון רָ֔ב וְנִתַּ֥ן הֶהָמֹ֖ון בְּיָדֹֽו׃
but he will make a great multitude stand forth,
but this multitude will be granted into his hand.
וְנִשָּׂ֥א הֶהָמֹ֖ון יָרוּם (וְרָ֣ם ק) לְבָבֹ֑ו
When the multitude is taken away,
his heart will exalt itself;
וְהִפִּ֛יל רִבֹּאֹ֖ות וְלֹ֥א יָעֹֽוז׃
Then he will throw down tens of thousands,
but he shall not remain strong;
Daniel 11:13
וְשָׁב֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפֹ֔ון וְהֶעֱמִ֣יד הָמֹ֔ון רַ֖ב מִן־הָרִאשֹׁ֑ון
And the king of the north will turn,
and set up a multitude greater than the first;
וּלְקֵ֨ץ הָֽעִתִּ֤ים שָׁנִים֙ יָ֣בֹוא בֹ֔וא
Then after the course of years he will vehemently attack,
בְּחַ֥יִל גָּדֹ֖ול וּבִרְכ֥וּשׁ רָֽב׃
with a great force and vast resources.
Daniel 11:14
וּבָעִתִּ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם רַבִּ֥ים יַֽעַמְד֖וּ עַל־מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֑גֶב
And in these times,
many shall stand against the king of the south;
וּבְנֵ֣י פָּרִיצֵ֣י עַמְּךָ֗ יִֽנַּשְּׂא֛וּ לְהַעֲמִ֥יד חָזֹ֖ון וְנִכְשָֽׁלוּ׃
And the sons of your nation’s robbers,
they will exalt themselves, for vision establishment,
but shall make themselves feeble.
Daniel 11:15
וְיָבֹא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפֹ֔ון וְיִשְׁפֹּךְ֙ סֹֽולֲלָ֔ה וְלָכַ֖ד עִ֣יר מִבְצָרֹ֑ות
Now the king of the north will go and heap up a mound,
and capture a surpassingly fortified city;
וּזְרֹעֹ֤ות הַנֶּ֨גֶב֙ לֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֔דוּ וְעַם֙ מִבְחָרָ֔יו וְאֵ֥ין כֹּ֖חַ לַעֲמֹֽד
and the armies of the south shall not stand,
in addition His choicest nation,
even there isn’t any power to withstand.
Daniel 11:16
וְיַ֨עַשׂ הַבָּ֤א אֵלָיו֙ כִּרְצֹונֹ֔ו וְאֵ֥ין עֹומֵ֖ד לְפָנָ֑יו
And he (the one coming against him)
will do according to his will,
and there is none standing before him;
וְיַעֲמֹ֥ד בְּאֶֽרֶץ־הַצְּבִ֖י וְכָלָ֥ה בְיָדֹֽו׃
and he shall stand in the glorious land
(also wasted by his hand).
Daniel 11:17
וְיָשֵׂ֣ם פָּ֠נָיו לָבֹ֞וא בְּתֹ֧קֶף כָּל־מַלְכוּתֹ֛ו וִישָׁרִ֥ים עִמֹּ֖ו וְעָשָׂ֑ה
And he will set his face to go in the whole authority
of his kingdom and also upright ones along with him;
וּבַ֤ת הַנָּשִׁים֙ יִתֶּן־לֹ֣ו לְהַשְׁחִיתָ֔הּ וְלֹ֥א תַעֲמֹ֖ד וְלֹא־לֹ֥ו תִהְיֶֽה׃
And the young woman extraordinaire,
he will give to himself so as to corrupt her,
but he will not remain standing
[you will not remain standing]
and she will not continue for him
[and you will not remain on account of him].
Daniel 11:18
וְיָשֵׁב (וְיָשֵׂ֧ם ׀ ק) פָּנָ֛יו לְאִיִּ֖ים וְלָכַ֣ד רַבִּ֑ים
And he will turn his attention to the coastlands,
and capture many;
וְהִשְׁבִּ֨ית קָצִ֤ין חֶרְפָּתֹו֙ לֹ֔ו
And he will make his reproach commander cease for him,
בִּלְתִּ֥י חֶרְפָּתֹ֖ו יָשִׁ֥יב לֹֽו׃
besides that, his reproach will turn backwards with respect to himself;
Daniel 11:19
וְיָשֵׁ֣ב פָּנָ֔יו לְמָעוּזֵּ֖י אַרְצֹ֑ו
Then he shall return his focus
to the strongholds of his own land
וְנִכְשַׁ֥ל וְנָפַ֖ל וְלֹ֥א יִמָּצֵֽא׃
but he shall sink down and fall, and not be found.
Daniel 11:20
וְעָמַ֧ד עַל־כַּנֹּ֛ו מַעֲבִ֥יר נֹוגֵ֖שׂ הֶ֣דֶר מַלְכ֑וּת
Then one shall stand on his platform,
who transfers-exacts realm adornment;
וּבְיָמִ֤ים אֲחָדִים֙ יִשָּׁבֵ֔ר
Now in kindred days he will be broken,
וְלֹ֥א בְאַפַּ֖יִם וְלֹ֥א בְמִלְחָמָֽה׃
but not in anger, nor in battle.
Daniel 11:21
וְעָמַ֤ד עַל־כַּנֹּו֙ נִבְזֶ֔ה וְלֹא־נָתְנ֥וּ עָלָ֖יו הֹ֣וד מַלְכ֑וּת
Now on his platform a despicable one shall stand,
and they did not confer upon him majesty of royal power;
וּבָ֣א בְשַׁלְוָ֔ה וְהֶחֱזִ֥יק מַלְכ֖וּת בַּחֲלַקְלַקֹּֽות׃
And he will come in peace,
and take hold of royalty with smoothness.
Daniel 11:22
וּזְרֹעֹ֥ות הַשֶּׁ֛טֶף יִשָּׁטְפ֥וּ מִלְּפָנָ֖יו וְיִשָּׁבֵ֑רוּ
And the forces of overwhelmment,
they will be swept away from before him,
and crushed;
וְגַ֖ם נְגִ֥יד בְּרִֽית׃
The Covenant Prince included.
Daniel 11:23
וּמִן־הִֽתְחַבְּר֥וּת אֵלָ֖יו יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה מִרְמָ֑ה
And after leaguing with him,
he will bring about treachery;
וְעָלָ֥ה וְעָצַ֖ם בִּמְעַט־גֹּֽוי׃
And he will ascend and become strong,
with a small body politic.
Daniel 11:24
בְּשַׁלְוָ֞ה וּבְמִשְׁמַנֵּ֣י מְדִינָה֮ יָבֹוא֒ וְעָשָׂ֗ה
With security, and provincial fertile places,
he will come and will do
אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹא־עָשׂ֤וּ אֲבֹתָיו֙ וַאֲבֹ֣ות אֲבֹתָ֔יו
that which his fathers did not do,
or his father’s fathers:
בִּזָּ֧ה וְשָׁלָ֛ל וּרְכ֖וּשׁ לָהֶ֣ם יִבְזֹ֑ור|
Plunder and prey and livestock he will disperse to them;
וְעַ֧ל מִבְצָרִ֛ים יְחַשֵּׁ֥ב מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֖יו וְעַד־עֵֽת׃
and against defences he will devise his plans,
even unto a time.
Daniel 11:25
וְיָעֵר֩ כֹּחֹ֨ו וּלְבָבֹ֜ו עַל־מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּגֶב֮ בְּחַ֣יִל גָּדֹול֒
And he will stir up his might and his inner being
against the king of the south with a great force,
וּמֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֗גֶב יִתְגָּרֶה֙ לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה בְּחַֽיִל־גָּדֹ֥ול וְעָצ֖וּם עַד־מְאֹ֑ד
And the king of the south will excite himself to battle even to the nth degree with a great and numerous force;
וְלֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֔ד כִּֽי־יַחְשְׁב֥וּ עָלָ֖יו מַחֲשָׁבֹֽות׃
but he will not remain standing,
for they shall devise plans against him.
Daniel 11:26
וְאֹכְלֵ֧י פַת־בָּגֹ֛ו יִשְׁבְּר֖וּהוּ וְחֵילֹ֣ו יִשְׁטֹ֑וף
And those who eat his fine food will break him,
and overwhelm his force;
וְנָפְל֖וּ חֲלָלִ֥ים רַבִּֽים׃
and many shall fall, pierced through.
Daniel 11:27
וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֤ם הַמְּלָכִים֙ לְבָבָ֣ם לְמֵרָ֔ע וְעַל־שֻׁלְחָ֥ן אֶחָ֖ד כָּזָ֣ב יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ
And the same two kings,
their inner being towards perpetrating evil,
will speak falsehood over one table;
וְלֹ֣א תִצְלָ֔ח כִּי־עֹ֥וד קֵ֖ץ לַמֹּועֵֽד׃
But it will not go through,
for yet the end is at the appointed time.
Daniel 11:28
וְיָשֹׁ֤ב אַרְצֹו֙ בִּרְכ֣וּשׁ גָּדֹ֔ול וּלְבָבֹ֖ו עַל־בְּרִ֣ית קֹ֑דֶשׁ
And he will restore his land with great possessions,
and his inner being upon the Holy Covenant;
וְעָשָׂ֖ה וְשָׁ֥ב לְאַרְצֹֽו׃
and he will act with effect,
then return to his own land.
Daniel 11:29
לַמֹּועֵ֥ד יָשׁ֖וּב וּבָ֣א בַנֶּ֑גֶב
At the appointed time he will return,
and go into the south;
וְלֹֽא־תִהְיֶ֥ה כָרִאשֹׁנָ֖ה וְכָאַחֲרֹנָֽה׃
but it will not be like before or as later;
Daniel 11:30
וּבָ֨אוּ בֹ֜ו צִיִּ֤ים כִּתִּים֙ וְנִכְאָ֔ה
And ships of Kittim will come unto him,
and he will be disheartened,
וְשָׁ֛ב וְזָעַ֥ם עַל־בְּרִֽית־קֹ֖ודֶשׁ וְעָשָׂ֑ה
and he will turn back and curse the Holy Covenant,
then act with effect,
וְשָׁ֣ב וְיָבֵ֔ן עַל־עֹזְבֵ֖י בְּרִ֥ית קֹֽדֶשׁ׃
and he will return and give heed to
those forsaking the Holy Covenant.
Daniel 11:31
וּזְרֹעִ֖ים מִמֶּ֣נּוּ יַעֲמֹ֑דוּ
And forces from him shall stand forth;
וְחִלְּל֞וּ הַמִּקְדָּ֤שׁ הַמָּעֹוז֙ וְהֵסִ֣ירוּ הַתָּמִ֔יד
and they shall pollute the Sanctuary,
the Place of Strength,
and also lay aside the Continuity,
וְנָתְנ֖וּ הַשִּׁקּ֥וּץ מְשֹׁומֵֽם׃
and constitute the detested thing causing horror;
Daniel 11:32
וּמַרְשִׁיעֵ֣י בְרִ֔ית יַחֲנִ֖יף בַּחֲלַקֹּ֑ות
And those who condemn the Covenant,
he will make godless by means of excessive praise;
וְעַ֛ם יֹדְעֵ֥י אֱלֹהָ֖יו יַחֲזִ֥קוּ וְעָשֽׂוּ׃
But a people who know their God
will display strength and act with effect;
Daniel 11:33
וּמַשְׂכִּ֣ילֵי עָ֔ם יָבִ֖ינוּ לָֽרַבִּ֑ים
And a wise people,
they shall have understanding for the many,
וְנִכְשְׁל֞וּ בְּחֶ֧רֶב וּבְלֶהָבָ֛ה
but will be thrown to the ground, by sword and flame,
בִּשְׁבִ֥י וּבְבִזָּ֖ה יָמִֽים׃
by captivity and spoil ……days
Daniel 11:34
וּבְהִכָּ֣שְׁלָ֔ם יֵעָזְר֖וּ עֵ֣זֶר מְעָ֑ט
And while being thrown to the ground,
they will obtain help – too little help:
וְנִלְו֧וּ עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם רַבִּ֖ים בַּחֲלַקְלַקֹּֽות׃
Since many will have joined themselves unto them,
through hypocritical over-laudation.
Daniel 11:35
וּמִן־הַמַּשְׂכִּילִ֣ים יִכָּֽשְׁל֗וּ
But some of the prudent ones will be thrown to the ground,
לִצְרֹ֥וף בָּהֶ֛ם וּלְבָרֵ֥ר וְלַלְבֵּ֖ן עַד־עֵ֣ת קֵ֑ץ
for testing among them,
and indeed for purification and whitening-
until an end time;
כִּי־עֹ֖וד לַמֹּועֵֽד׃
Nevertheless yet at the appointed time.
Daniel 11:36
וְעָשָׂ֨ה כִרְצֹונֹ֜ו הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ
Now the king will do according to his will,
וְיִתְרֹומֵ֤ם וְיִתְגַּדֵּל֙ עַל־כָּל־אֵ֔ל
and will exalt himself – above every god,
וְעַל֙ אֵ֣ל אֵלִ֔ים יְדַבֵּ֖ר נִפְלָאֹ֑ות
even over God Supreme,
and will speak unimaginable things:
וְהִצְלִ֨יחַ֙ עַד־כָּ֣לָה זַ֔עַם
And he will be successful,
until indignation is completed,
כִּ֥י נֶחֱרָצָ֖ה נֶעֱשָֽׂתָה׃
that what is determined be done.
Daniel 11:37
וְעַל־אֱלֹהֵ֤י אֲבֹתָיו֙ לֹ֣א יָבִ֔ין
And towards the God of his patrons he will not give heed,
וְעַל־חֶמְדַּ֥ת נָשִׁ֛ים וְעַֽל־כָּל־אֱלֹ֖והַּ לֹ֣א יָבִ֑ין
in addition concerning the pleasantness of women,
nor to any god, will he pay attention;
כִּ֥י עַל־כֹּ֖ל יִתְגַּדָּֽל׃
Indeed above all he will magnify himself.
Daniel 11:38
וְלֶאֱלֹ֨הַּ֙ מָֽעֻזִּ֔ים עַל־כַּנֹּ֖ו יְכַבֵּ֑ד
And, on his platform,
he will honour a god – Fortifications,
וְלֶאֱלֹ֜והַּ אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹא־יְדָעֻ֣הוּ אֲבֹתָ֗יו
Even a god that his patrons were not acquainted with
יְכַבֵּ֛ד בְּזָהָ֥ב וּבְכֶ֛סֶף
will he honour, with gold and silver,
וּבְאֶ֥בֶן יְקָרָ֖ה וּבַחֲמֻדֹֽות׃
and beautiful stone and precious things;
Daniel 11:39
וְעָשָׂ֞ה לְמִבְצְרֵ֤י מָֽעֻזִּים֙ עִם־אֱלֹ֣והַּ נֵכָ֔ר
And he will act with effect,
against the most extensively fortified strongholds,
with a foreign god;
אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִכִּיר (יַכִּ֖יר ק) יַרְבֶּ֣ה כָבֹ֑וד
one that he regards; he will multiply riches.
וְהִמְשִׁילָם֙ בָּֽרַבִּ֔ים וַאֲדָמָ֖ה יְחַלֵּ֥ק בִּמְחִֽיר׃
Now he will cause them to rule among many,
and land he will assign for wages;
Daniel 11:40
וּבְעֵ֣ת קֵ֗ץ יִתְנַגַּ֤ח עִמֹּו֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֔גֶב
And in end time he will engage in conflict with him,
the king of the south,
וְיִשְׂתָּעֵ֨ר עָלָ֜יו מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפֹ֗ון
and the king of the north will storm upon him,
בְּרֶ֨כֶב֙ וּבְפָ֣רָשִׁ֔ים וּבָאֳנִיֹּ֖ות רַבֹּ֑ות
with chariotry and horsemen, and by Maritime Greatness;
וּבָ֥א בַאֲרָצֹ֖ות וְשָׁטַ֥ף וְעָבָֽר׃
and he will enter the countries,
then overwhelm and pass through.
Daniel 11:41
וּבָא֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ הַצְּבִ֔י וְרַבֹּ֖ות יִכָּשֵׁ֑לוּ
And he will enter the Land of Beauty,
and many will be thrown to the ground;
וְאֵ֨לֶּה֙ יִמָּלְט֣וּ מִיָּדֹ֔ו
But these will slip through his hand –
אֱדֹ֣ום וּמֹואָ֔ב וְרֵאשִׁ֖ית בְּנֵ֥י עַמֹּֽון׃
Edom and Moab, and the capital of the children of Ammon;
Daniel 11:42
וְיִשְׁלַ֥ח יָדֹ֖ו בַּאֲרָצֹ֑ות
And he will stretch out his hand into the continents,
וְאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם לֹ֥א תִהְיֶ֖ה לִפְלֵיטָֽה׃
And the country of Egypt,
it will not be for a deliverance;
Daniel 11:43
וּמָשַׁ֗ל בְּמִכְמַנֵּי֙ הַזָּהָ֣ב וְהַכֶּ֔סֶף
and he will have rule,
in the hidden stores of the gold and the silver,
וּבְכֹ֖ל חֲמֻדֹ֣ות מִצְרָ֑יִם
and in all the precious things of Egypt:
וְלֻבִ֥ים וְכֻשִׁ֖ים בְּמִצְעָדָֽיו׃
Both Libyans and Ethiopians, against his steps;
וּשְׁמֻעֹ֣ות יְבַהֲלֻ֔הוּ מִמִּזְרָ֖ח וּמִצָּפֹ֑ון
And reports will terrify him, from east, and from north;
וְיָצָא֙ בְּחֵמָ֣א גְדֹלָ֔ה לְהַשְׁמִ֥יד וּֽלְהַחֲרִ֖ים רַבִּֽים׃
and he will go forth with great fury,
to lay waste and devote many to destruction.
וְיִטַּע֙ אָהֳלֶ֣י אַפַּדְנֹ֔ו בֵּ֥ין יַמִּ֖ים לְהַר־צְבִי־קֹ֑דֶשׁ
And he will plant the majestic tabernacle/tabernacles of his palace
amidst seas, by Mt Holiness Beauty;
וּבָא֙ עַד־קִצֹּ֔ו וְאֵ֥ין עֹוזֵ֖ר לֹֽו׃
But he will come to his end,
and there will be none helping him.
