DANIEL 2 Interlinear Overview
(Updates to the font sizes and the addition of cantillation markers is in progress)
Nebuchadnezzar has a dream that agitates him.
Because he is unable to recall the dream,
he musters all the wisdom of Babylon to have
the dream related and provide the interpretation.
Due to the impossibility of the task, no one can comply,
and all the wise elite are consequently sentenced to death.
Daniel and his companions pray to God for mercy and are granted
the necessary information concerning Nebuchadnezzar’s dream.
This dream is a prophecy in prophetic symbolism about the major
empires which will control civilization until
the final Advent of the Kingdom of God.
Daniel 2:1
Howbeit in year two of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar
(Accession year +1 = 607BC Babylonian reckoning),
Nebuchadnezzar dreamt dreams;
And his spirit was in turmoil,
and his sleep was gone for him;
Daniel 2:2
And the king gave orders to summon the sacred scribes and the conjurers,
And the sorcerers and the Chaldeans
(Babylonian ruling class/sages), —
To declare to the king his dreams;
Thus they came and they stood,
in the presence of the king;
Daniel 2:3
And the king said to them,
“I dreamt a dream:
And my spirit is in agitation,
to know the dream!”
Daniel 2:4
Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king,
in Aramaic:
“O King, Live for ever!
Tell your servants the dream,
Then we can show the meaning.”
Daniel 2:5
“The king responded,
and said to the Chaldeans,
“The spoken word from me is definite:
If ye do not make known to me
the dream and it’s interpretation,
Ye shall be dismembered,
and your houses made a garbage dump!”
Daniel 2:6
“But if ye should declare the dream and its interpretation,
Gifts and a reward and great honour
Ye shall receive from before me;
But, the dream and it’s interpretation show me here and now!”
Daniel 2:7
They answered a second time, saying:
“O King, let him relate the dream to his servants,
Then we will make known its interpretation;”
Daniel 2:8
The king responding and saying:
“With certainty I am of understanding,
that ye are in the process of buying time,
Since ye have seen
that the word from me is definite:—”
Daniel 2:9
“That if ye do not make the dream known to me,
the decree for you is one only,
Furthermore a word — a lie and corruption ye have colluded
To tell before me,
until the time might somehow be changed!
But, tell me the dream,
And then I will know that you can interpret the meaning for me!”
Daniel 2:10
The Chaldeans spoke up before the king also saying:
“There isn’t a person on Planet Earth,
Who is able to make known the king’s matter;
Since that any great and powerful king
Has ever at any point requested a thing such as this,
Of any magician, or sorcerer or soothsayer;”
Daniel 2:11
“Moreover the thing what the king is asking for is difficult,
And there is not another,
Who could even declare it before the king,
Except gods, whose abode
Is not with mankind.”
Daniel 2:12
Whereupon the king became angry and extremely furious;
And he gave orders to destroy
all of the wise men of Babylon;
Daniel 2:13
Thus the decree went forth,
and the wise men were being butchered;
And they sought Daniel and his companions,
to be like-wise killed;
Daniel 2:14
Right then Daniel,
He gave back counsel and sound judgment,
To Arioch ( “lion-like” and/or “Aryan” )
The executioners’ royal commander,
Who had gone out to slaughter
the wise men of Babylon;
Daniel 2:15
Speaking up and saying to Arioch
the king’s ruling official:
“Why is the decree from the king’s presence so severe?”
Then Arioch made the matter known to Daniel;
Daniel 2:16
And Daniel went up and requested from the king,
That he might grant him time,
so to declare the interpretation to the king.
Daniel 2:17
Then Daniel went away to his house,
And then to Hananya, Mishael and Azarya his friends,
he made the matter known,
Daniel 2:18
And to seek mercies from the presence of the God of Heaven,
Concerning this secret;
That they might not destroy Daniel and his friends,
Along with the remainder of the wise men of Babylon;
Daniel 2:19
Then to Daniel by the Vision of Night
the secret was revealed;
Then Daniel, he praised the God of Heaven;
Daniel 2:20
Daniel speaking up and saying:
“Let His Name, that of the True God, be praised,
From the perpetuity of antiquity,
unto the eternal future;
Because Wisdom and Might, these are His!”
“And He changes the times and seasons,
Removing kings, and setting up kings;
Giving the wisdom to sages,
and the knowledge of knowing discernment;”
Daniel 2:22
“He is revealing the unfathomable,
and the deep things;
Comprehending that which is in the darkness,
Moreover the Light having been domiciled with Him;”
Daniel 2:23
“To Thee, O God of my fathers,
I am giving thanks and gratefully praising,
Because of the wisdom and the strength You have given to me;
And now You have let me know what we sought from Thee, —
For You have made known to us the matter of the king!”
Daniel 2:24
Wherupon forth-with, Daniel went to Arioch,
Whom the king had appointed to destroy Babylon’s wise men;
And he went away and said thus to him:
“Destroy not Babylon’s wise men, —
Bring me in before the king,
Then the interpretation, to the king I shall declare!”
Daniel 2:25
Then Arioch hurredly
Brought in Daniel before the king;
And thus he said to him, —
That I have found a man
from the sons of the exile of Judah,
Who will make known the interpretation for the king;
Daniel 2:26
The king began talking and saying to Daniel,
Whose name was Belteshazzar, —
Are you able –
To cause me to know the dream, that which I saw,
and it’s interpretation?
Daniel 2:27
Daniel answering before the king and saying:
“The secret that the king is requiring,
No wise men — enchanters,
magicians, diviners,
are able to make known to the king;”
Daniel 2:28
“However,– there is God in Heaven, Revealer of Secrets,
And He has made known to king Nebuchadnezzar
That what shall take place at the End of Days;
Your dream and the visions of your head upon your bed,
This is it: —”
Daniel 2:29
“You O king:
Your thought upon your bed came up,–
That what shall be after this;
And so the Revealer of Secrets has made known to you,
that what shall take place;”
Daniel 2:30
“As for me,
not through wisdom that is in me more than all living,
has this secret been revealed to me;
But, for the purpose that the interpretation
they would make known to the king,
And you would understand the thoughts of your heart;”
Daniel 2:31
“You O king,
were looking, and behold one very great image,
That image was mighty and its radiance extraordinary,
and was standing right in front of you;
Furthermore it’s appearance was frightening;”
Daniel 2:32
“This image, —
It’s head – of pure gold,
It’s breast and it’s arms – of silver,
It’s belly and it’s thighs – of bronze,”
Daniel 2:33
“It’s legs – of iron;
It’s feet – partly of iron,
And partly, – of clay;”
Daniel 2:34
“You were looking,
Until that a stone was broken off, that not by hands,
and struck the image upon its feet
of iron and clay,—
And crushed them;”
Daniel 2:35
At the same time the iron, the potshard, the silver and the gold fell into pieces together
and became as chaff from a summer threshing floor
and the wind carried them away
and there wasn’t any place found for them
then the stone that struck the image became
a great mountain and it filled the whole Earth
Daniel 2:36
This is the dream and we will declare its
interpretation before the king
Daniel 2:37
You O king are king of kings
For the God of Heaven gave you the kingdom,
power and might and honour
Daniel 2:38
And wherever they are dwelling, the children of men,
the beasts of the field, and the birds of the skies
He gave then into your hand and made you ruler over them all:
You are that head of gold!ּ
Daniel 2:39
And in your track will arise another kingdom inferior to yours
then another kingdom, a third, that of the bronze,
which shall rule in all the earth
Then a fourth kingdom, it shall be strong like the iron,
just as iron breaking in pieces and pounding everything.
And so like iron that crushes,
all of these it will break in pieces and crush.
Daniel 2:41
And whereas you observed the feet and toes,
part of them potshard and part iron;
it shall be a divided kingdom,
but some of the hardness of the iron shall be within it
and so corresponding to that which you saw –
iron being mixed with shard clay material
Daniel 2:42
Moreover the toes of the feet –
part of them iron and part of them potshard…
Part of the end of the kingdom will be mighty
and part of it will be brittle
Daniel 2:43
That which you saw, the iron mixed with shard clay material…
They shall be mixing themselves by human gene,
But will not be holding together,
Behold like iron not blending with potshard!
Daniel 2:44
Now in their (those king’s) days,
the God of Heaven shall set up a Kingdom
that for Eternity shall not be destroyed
And the Kingdom shall not be left to another people
It shall shatter and put an end to all these kingdoms
and it shall endure for Eternity
Daniel 2:45
Inasmuch as you saw that a stone was cut from the mountain
without human instrumentality
and broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay,
the silver, and also the gold:
The Great God has made known to the king what shall be hereafter
